PREFACE

The purpose of this report is to present new information as to how the Masters of Science in Engineering who have studied Biomedical Engineering at Tampere University of Technology have found a placement in working life. The report is based on a postal questionnaire study conducted during the summer of 1997.

We would like to express our gratitude to the following persons who have assisted us at various phases of the study:

Raimo Lamminen, Technical Assistant at Ragnar Granit Institute, for retrieving the study data of the Masters of Science in Engineering included in the study from the archive, for posting the questionnaires, feeding the data into the database, and for maintaining the database;

Jaakko Ruohtula, Head of Division at Tampere University of Technology, for collating the Masters of Science in Engineering who had studied Biomedical Engineering from the University files;

Hannu Eskola, Associate Professor at Ragnar Granit Institute, and Juha Nousiainen, Associate Professor at Ragnar Granit Institute, for numerous valuable comments during the initial phase of the study and especially during the preparation of the report;
